Here's your first look at the Motorola RAZR 2

The RAZR will have a 6.2-inch main display, just like the first-gen model.

What you need to know

  • The first images of the Motorola RAZR successor have surfaced.
  • They show a slightly tweaked design with a smaller chin and thinner bezels.
  • Motorola is rumored to announce the RAZR 5G sometime in the fourth quarter of the year.

Last week, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, a more impressive version of its foldable flip phone with the latest Snapdragon 865+ chipset and support for sub-6GHz 5G networks. Motorola is also rumored to launch a 5G-enabled successor to the RAZR this year, featuring a more powerful chipset and upgraded cameras. The first images showing the upcoming foldable phone have now been posted by Evan Blass on his Patreon page.

The leaked images suggest the RAZR 2 will have a fairly similar design to the first-gen model. If rumors are to be believed, the RAZR 2 will have an identical 6.2-inch main display as its predecessor. Thanks to the significantly smaller chin and the slimmer bezels, however, the display on the RAZR 2 appears to be larger. The capacitive fingerprint sensor has been removed as well, although it isn't clear if Motorola has switched to an in-display sensor or embedded it inside the power button on the side of the phone.

While a Lenovo executive had claimed in May that the RAZR successor would be revealed in September this year, the foldable phone is now rumored to go on sale early next year. However, Motorola may still unveil the phone before the end of the year, similar to how it announced the first-gen RAZR in November last year and released it in February this year.

The RAZR 2 is rumored to feature Qualcomm's 7nm Snapdragon 765 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. It is also expected to have a 48MP primary sensor and a 20MP secondary shooter.
