The well-known brand finally leaves the wires behind!
Audio Technica has announced four new sets of headphones, two of which are completely wireless and one replaces an aging model from 2014. On the wireless front, the company is introducing the ATH-CKR7TW and sport-orientated ATH-SPORT7TW to its lineup, both of which use the latest low-energy Bluetooth 5 protocol. The ATH-CKR7TW offer six hours of battery life per charge and the carrying case can provide you with an additional nine hours of charge. As for the sportier ATH-SPORT7TW, Audio Technica says they will offer 3.5 hours of battery per charge, have an IPX5 weather resistance level, and the charging case can provide an additional 14 hours of charge. Both sets will become available later this fall at £229 and £179 respectively.
As for the over-ear models, Audio Technica is finally refreshing the ATH-MSR7 from 2014 and has introduced the ATH-MSR7b with improved sonic performance and a lighter design. These headphones now weigh in at 53g less than the previous model, and the tuned 45mm "True Motion Driver" is said to deliver faster response times and reduced distortion. They'll be available in black and gunmetal finishes, and will go on sale in the coming weeks for £219.
Finally, the ATH-SR30BT and ATH-SR50BT are the newest on-ear Bluetooth options from Audio Technica. These will also utilize Bluetooth 5.0, and the ATH-SR30BT boast an incredible 70 hours of battery life per charge, while the ATH-SR50BT are said to offer 28 hours. That's a huge difference in battery life, but the latter set offers a noise-reduction mode to reduce unwanted ambient sound and a hear-through mode that allows you to hear your surroundings with the headphones on by just tapping a button on the left ear cup. The ATH-SR30BT will come in four color options and debut at £179, while the ATH-SR50BT will come in only two options and be priced at £99.
These new styles and options from Audio Technica bring them back into competition with other headphones like Apple's AirPods, the Bose QuietComfort 35, and more. Looking for a pair of Audio Technica headphones you can buy right now? We'd highly recommend the ATH-M50x for $149 or the ATH-M40x for $99.
